Windy

Well I've put the washing on the line, although not sure how long it will be there for!  It's so windy here!!  The washing will probably be on the Ashbourne by-pass soon.

Funny to watch Theo, English Springer, in the garden.  His ears are so big they're flapping in the wind!!

Ladies Circle AGM over for another year.  Great meal at The Rose & Crown, Mayfield.  Lots of discussion had about our 50th Birthday party in June.  Ladies if you want a lovely afternoon out in Ashbourne with a great speaker, chance to put on your dresses and hats and enjoy good company and excellent food put 25th June in your diary!  Will post the invite onto facebook etc soon.

Best go, sheet just flown off the line and is now on the fence!!  Wheeeeeeeeee!!!!

Phew!

Well, Quentin has gone home so it's back to normal.  So why am I still rushing about??

Hopefully he had a good time?  I think the paintballing on Saturday was probably the highlight, although he seemed to enjoy my yorkshire puddings on Sunday so.....

Great night out last night with Derby Merlin Tangent, courtesy of Emma from Ladies Circle.  Staffordshire Hoard speaker Gareth Williams was fantastic, not only informative but funny too!  Is this unusual in a historian?  He is touring the country at the moment so if you get an opportunity do go along.  The Hoard will also be on display soon in the Staffordshire region so you could take a look at it too!

Ashbourne Ladies Circle AGM tonight at The Rose and Crown, Mayfield.  Never had a bad meal there yet so fingers crossed for another good one.  Ashbourne Circle will be 50 years old in August!  So there's a party to organise!

Polish up on my French

Well the day has finally arrived!  Quentin, Joe's French exchange student, is arriving today!  I keep running through phrases in my mind.  How are you?  Did you have a good journey?  Are you tired?  What do you mean you don't like my food!!!  All in French of course!!  May have to leave the computer on permanently and on the translation page!  It'll all come back to me I'm sure.

Unlike John, who knows lots of nouns like; hedgehog, squirrel, guinea pig! so will find it really hard to get through to him without using lots of hand and arm movements!!  He only knows these words because he thinks they sound funny in french.  Oh la la!!

Spaghetti bolognese for tea tonight, he's off orienteering with John and Joe tomorrow, Sale Sharks rugby on Friday, paintballing Saturday, Sunday dinner, packing Monday!  I feel tired just thinking about all the running about.

Can't see where I'm going to find the time for my knitting, the cushion is coming along, but with all the cable knitting on it ....

The sewing machines not been out of it's box yet.  I think that may have to wait until next week.  Must order some fabric samples and a book!!

Time to dash - work to do!!

The Birthday Weekend

Just come back from a lovely weekend with the family and the Lacey's.  Log cabins in the Forest of Dean - perfect (complete with hot tub!).

A decent, if hilly, 8 mile walk on Saturday, followed by a fabulous meal in the evening.  Great company, wii dancing, charades, champagne and wine!!

Birthday on Sunday but no lie in!  Had some lovely cards and presents.  Thank you to my wonderful daughter for the fantastic photo album she has put together for me.  Lots of lovely photos of my family - John & I before we were married, our honeymoon, the kids as babies and little ones, my mum and dad, grandad etc.

Joe bought me a bottle of champagne back from France which I will enjoy later, and John bought me a sewing machine!!!  I did ask for it!  So maybe my blog will be about sewing now and not just knitting!!  There may also be a lot of swear words too!!!

Anyway, back to reality and off to do some stocktaking.

Spring is around the corner?!?

What a beautiful week we have had so far.  The sun is trying to break through but the heavy cloud is holding it back.  Hope it comes out soon as I have a mountain of washing to do since Joe got back from France!

Saw the weather forecast last night and it said snow over the midlands for Friday.  We don't want any more of that!

Last day of winter this Sunday, first day of Spring on Monday.  The daffodils are finally coming out and I can see leaf buds on the lilac. It makes you feel so much better.

I've hidden the BBQ - if John sees the sun he starts talking of BBQ's and puts his shorts on!!!

Anyway, back to the washing!

The Weekend

Well the end of a busy weekend!

Ashbourne Round Table Ladies Night was a great success.  The 60's dress theme seemed to go down well!  Plenty of hippies, a couple of Audrey Hepburn's and even Steed!  Well done boys, great night.

Been out looking at kitchens all day.  Why when you have a set of architect plans do they try and insist that they still need to visit your house?  Anyway, bombed a couple out on that basis!

Just come home from my goddaughters 7th birthday party and am now feeling particulary partied out!  Time for a sit down with a glass of wine and watch Brian Cox.

Loughborough Ladies Circle 55th Charter Luncheon etc

I've just come back from a lovely luncheon with Loughborough Ladies Circle.  A big happy 55th Birthday to you!  Browns Lane Restaurant in Loughborough served a fantastic three course lunch, and with the addition of some great company it was an event to shout about.

Beccy has done a great job in fundraising for Rainbows Hospice, raising over £4000 in the last year.  Well done to her.

Off to get ready now for Ashbourne Round Table's Ladies Night - 60's eye make up to apply!!  Where did I put my super black mascara and false eyelashes??

Busy Weekend Ahead

Well one client sorted, the other has postponed until Monday, so it's an early finish!  Time to get my invoicing done before the busy weekend starts!

Hairdressers later this afternoon then off to Tamworth to see Grease at LFAT, then tomorrow......

.....it's Loughborough Ladies Circle 55th Charter Luncheon tomorrow followed by Ashbourne Round Table's Ladies Night tomorrow evening.  I reckon a lie in could be in order on Sunday!

Late Night Dog Walk

Off to walk Theo now, then to bed.  Two clients tomorrow, hairdressers and then off to Tamworth to see Grease at Landau Forte Academy.  Busy start to the weekend and a busy weekend ahead.  More on that tomorrow.

Joe

So Joe's arrived in France, been to the fair and now collecting a Chinese Take Away!!!  Shouldn't he be having frogs legs and snails??

Night in on our own for me and Toria - a quiet night!

Good Morning

Well, that's Joe off to France for a week.  John's off today so I'm hoping he's going to do some gardening, although it's blowing a gale up here on the hill!  Breakfast and off to work.  Need to go and give Toria another nudge - she's forgotten how to get up again having had two days off for the Shrovetide Football.

Phew

All packed!  My little boy going off to France without us! Not that he's bothered.  Time for tea and a sit down now.

Middle of the Week

Set of management accounts done, walked the dog in glorious sunshine and now at home alone!  The kids are at the Shrovetide match, John's not home, just me and the computer (and the dog now asleep at my feet).

Joe's off to France tomorrow so need to do the ironing, pack his suitcase and then maybe some more work on my cushion this evening!  It's coming along OK, just need to get the coffee stain off it!  Thanks dog!  Lots of ideas for my next project.

Hello
